Whether it’s work, school, or a massive project …staying focus could be a little challenging especially if you have a lot going on in your life.
We’re always finding ways at the office to do our best work that we’re proud of. Today we want to share four tips that will help you stay focused and more productive at work.
#1) Having a notebook just for work + your tasks each day (Shop This One Here: bit.ly/1X5aJqK )
There’s something about writing things down that holds power to each word. We each have a notebook at our desk with the date at the top and all the tasks we have to complete for the day. Crossing things off is the best feeling. If your task is something you can do in two minutes or less write those at the top and get those done first. Moving things over to the next day really blows…we try our best to knock tasks out the park on the first day. Of course we have a digital calendar with deadlines but having a game plan each day really helps with the work load. If you’re a huge planner we suggest putting all your challenging tasks on Monday and crushing those things first and then riding the week out.
#2) Time Blocking (Shop This One Here: http://amzn.to/1qgXfuY )
For each tasks on your list, block time out time. We like using Datexx The Miracle Cube Timer. So let’s say for example…we had to write copy for a portion of the website…for those 15 or 30 minutes we will not multiple task or work on anything else. No emails, no new ideas, no talking, we FOCUS ON THAT TASK. Then once the timer hits, we move on to the next task giving that our 100% efforts and move through our list. This really helps with productivity.
Each day you go in knowing what needs to be done …writing, mapping, and planning…then the timer helps you stay focus and accountable. We truly feel we get more things done this way! We move through our list pretty quickly!
#3) Take Regular Breaks
When we’re happy, awake, and fed we find that we’re operating at our best. So anytime we feel tired or not creative we’ll take a 5 minute break and just go enjoy being out in the sun! It really changes our mood and refreshes us for the next tasks!
#4) Turn on Notifications
TURN THEM OFF. DO IT NOW. Turn them off on your phone, on your desktop, everywhere! Sometimes you see an important email come through and can’t help but go read it immediately DON’T. This wastes more time with you straying from your tasks at hand to read an email that will be there for the rest of the day.
We hope you enjoyed these tips because they’ve truly changed the game for us. We’re working on 4-5 projects at all times so using this 4 step process makes it less overwhelming.
Until next time!
